SUSTAINABILITY > DENIM RECYCLING
Denim is a popular fashion accessory with cotton as the main material. The water and the pesticide heavy usage induce us to recycle jeans which can reduce the environmental impact drastically. An old worn out denim can be recycled in order to manufacture new denim. The denims are hashed into small pieces and then milled down to a pulp of cotton. The reason of doing this is because otherwise the fabric is too long and too hard to pulp. The pulped cotton in turn becomes a new yarn which can be used to produce new fabrics. The fibres of the recycled yarns are short so pure organic cotton is added in order to get a durable fabric. Then the next process is of spinning the yarns into fabric. There can different spinning techniques to achieve a different feel to the fabric. The final denim is slubby with a soft hand feel. The slubs are mainly because of the natural irregularities of the recycled yarn.
The fabric is pure indigo denim, the undyed weft yarn has a blue grey colour which comes from the effect of the recycled denim. Jeans also can be recycled to any fashion or home accessory products. A worn out denim pant can be converted to make shorts by cutting short its length, a denim skirt can be stitched from bottom and added a handle to reutilise it as bag, the recycled denim could used to make rugs, cushion covers bedcovers which doesn't require that much roughness, these are some of the examples of denim recycling .Our company strongly believe that preservation of the environment is not a one-time job, but a never-ending process.
