At Sustech Center, Engineers closely observe the important problems of agriculture and rural living . Once a problem has been identified proposals for R&D are made and funding sought. The aim is to develop marketable product that addresses the original problem. Need to improve farm productivity in such harsh climate via specially adapted greenhouse technology and augmentation of potable water supply to households via dew harvest were identified early and technology developed to address these. Greater use of abundant solar energy in households was also recognized as important. Technology already developed is briefly described.
