Project Savera was initiated on a small scale in 2011 to educate street children. The project started with ~10 children from class 1 to class 8. These children lived in extreme conditions, working at road side tea vendors, cleaning train stations, collecting recycled materials, etc. With the help of local sponsorships, they were able to attend school and not worry about working all day.

As the program grew, we saw great synergies between Savera, and the other BCC programs like Child Line. Children benefitted not just from education, but also received counseling services, food, and child support.
In 2013, we partnered with United Way of Vadodara, which committed to sponsoring 400 children through high school. United Way has a great college sponsorship program, where underprivileged children can interview to gain college sponsorships to pursue higher education. This partnership between BCC and United Way now enables Savera sponsored children to interview for college sponsorships. We are excited, and are looking forward to helping these children go above and beyond what they imagined for themselves.

Many social problems plague today’s Indian society. Issues like child labor and discrimination against women are rampant across many parts of the country. Many children are forced to work on the streets to make a living, when instead, they should be receiving a good education.

These social problems will take a lot of perseverance to overcome, and we firmly believe that EDUCATION FOR ALL is a step in the right direction. Hence, Savera was born. We believe that to tackle many of these social problems, we must educate our youth to not only help them become self-sustained, but also to instill good moral values in them from an early age. Morals like respecting women, elders, and peers. Morals like working hard and fair, to achieve ones goals.

There are more children in need than there are resources, and hence we’ve strategically maintained our geographical focus, and hope to continue taking bigger strides and expanding to larger areas with your support !
